How Do I Use This Website?
Hello,
The purpose of this message is to explain in as much detail as possible how to use this site. First of all volunteerusher.com is a website that helps you to see theatre for free by signing up to be a volunteer usher. Ushers pass out programs, help patrons find their seats, take tickets, etc… and then assume seats right before the show begins. Details vary from show to show and theatre to theatre but usually ushers arrive an hour before show time and stay a few minutes afterward.

Tell Me How to Sign Up

Signing up to usher is easy. Just remember -
DO NOT sign up by e-mailing us your available dates
DO Sign up by following these steps,
  1. Go to www.volunteerusher.com and click “Register”
  2. Fill out some basic info including a password that you will choose*
    • *(You only need to do this the first time, after that you just log in)
  3. Log in using your chosen username and password
  4. Click on the show you’d like to see

You will now see a calendar of available dates and times. You’ll also notice that you can see how many ushers are needed for each performance. Decide which day you’d like to come and sign up by clicking on that performance. Some days have multiple performances so make sure to note the time.
It’s just that easy. You should receive an automatic e-mail reminder and we’ll keep you posted when shows are added or extended.
Want to sign up for more than one person? Great! Just sign up more than once. We only ask that at least one person take responsibility for coordinating the group and making sure everyone shows up on time. If you forget your date and accidentally delete your reminder e-mail you can always check on your “scheduled gigs” by logging in to the website. Please take a moment to look over our Frequently Asked Questions and if you have still have questions feel free to e-mail us.

More About Ushering

Volunteer ushers show up one hour before show time and help the house staff get the show up. This usually entails passing out programs, taking tickets, helping patrons find theirs seats and in the event of an emergency helping to evacuate the theatre. All the training you need is provided the night of the show.
We ask that you dress appropriately. (This doesn’t mean formal wear but avoid jeans and t-shirts)
We also ask that ushers be older than fifteen unless accompanied by an adult in which case thirteen is ok and that ushers be able to speak English well and can negotiate stairs. Please take a moment to look over our Frequently Asked Questions and if you have still have questions feel free to e-mail us.
